Understanding brain and behavior to overcome addiction.
Research Projects
Substance use disorders are a major issue worldwide, but our understanding of brain changes that are caused by drug use is limited. Overall, the labs research seeks to understand the effects of behavior (e.g., drug use) on states of neural activity throughout the whole brain (i.e., neural networks) and, conversely, the effects of manipulating these neural networks on behavioral outcomes.
Laboratory Techniques
It is critical to further our understanding of drug use using valid translational preclinical approaches. The laboratory to uses valid translational behavioral models of substance use disorders that are paired with chemogenetics, whole-brain imaging and network analysis.
